“Delta”
2017
two-channel video projection

The imagery in Delta might look like nebulae or primordial soup, and its abstract quality acts as a Rorschach test for viewers' interpretations.  The title suggests one possible understanding, that of a river delta.  Every enigmatic scene appears to either coalesce or fall apart, so that the landscapes are ceaselessly becoming new places.  It is not immediately apparent that these scenes come from microscope slides painted with oil pigments; much like a traditional oil painting, the pigment transcends its materiality to become a representation of something else.  Put another way, a closer look at the pigment makes it seem less like pigment after all.
